School bus in-service

REQUIRED 6 hours annual

Citation: Wyo. Stat. § 21-3-131

Wyo. Stat. § 21-3-131 requires each school district to establish and maintain minimum standards for school bus operators, including 'annual training consisting of not less than six (6) hours for persons whose duties involve the operation of school buses.' Administration is at the district level (written plan for selection, training and supervision); the statute prescribes no initial-hours minimum and no state exam beyond the CDL/S endorsement.

CDL renewal cycle: every 4 years.

No general recurring continuing-education requirement for CDL holders; WY CDLs renew every 4 years (in-person renewal required at least once every 10 years, with a current DOT medical certificate).

Hazmat: Standard federal cycle: TSA security threat assessment every 5 years for the hazmat endorsement; no WY-specific quirk identified in this research.
