School bus in-service

Citation: 92 Neb. Admin. Code ch. 91, § 003.03E (NDE Rule 91)

Nebraska Department of Education Rule 91 requires employers to 'annually provide a minimum of two (2) hours of in-service training for all pupil transportation vehicle drivers' (min content: emergency evacuations, loading/unloading, student management, vehicle inspections). Initial qualification requires a Level I Instructional Course plus behind-the-wheel pre-service evaluation (003.02C), and drivers must complete a Level II Instructional Course refresher within 5 years of Level I and each subsequent 5-year period (003.02D2). Courses are delivered through the Nebraska Safety Center (UNK); the DMV stopped issuing separate school bus permits on 1/1/2019.

No general CDL continuing-education requirement beyond renewal; Nebraska CDLs are valid 5 years.

Hazmat: Standard TSA security threat assessment cycle (5 years) via TSA universal enrollment; no state-run fingerprint program quirk found.
