REQUIRED 6 hours per 2 years

Citation: Mich. Comp. Laws ยง 257.1851 (Pupil Transportation Act)

Administered by the Michigan Department of Education (superintendent of public instruction approves courses; MDE-approved educational agencies deliver them). Drivers complete an entry-level school bus safety education course, then a 6-hour continuing education course within 2 years of entry-level certification and every succeeding 2 years; a written exam is required to receive the continuing-education card. Letting the card lapse means retaking the full entry-level course.
